Devotional for the week held on Sunday, March 9, 2025:

What a great example of servant leader. Elder Gong attended the Friday night of Culture Night and greeted so many students and public at that event. Then, he escaped again at the beginning of this devotional and worked his way up and around our section greeting and shaking hands. After this taping stopped, Elder Gong made his way back to the microphone and told us that they had a “redeye” back to the mainland and he would like to greet any and all that had the interest in greeting him. He was so inviting and loving. What a marvelous experience.

But this Tuesday was not a regular day. . .

Started with the Sunrise walk, but one of the students had an appointment with the orthopedic in Honolulu. Sister Fisher and I volunteered to take her down.

I didn’t take pictures of us, but this is the car part that unhooked itself from the underside of the Prius and let itself be known with a terrible metal draggggging sound. So here are these two Senior Sister Missionaries parked in the bus stop outside of Hau’ula. We phoned Elder Fisher and he brought their car. Took the key fob for ours and sent us on our way to Honolulu. We made it in time for the doctor appointment.

We made a day of it with lunch at Chick fil a (yum) and a stop at Walmart for groceries!! Costco for gas and made our way ALL the way around the entire island. Before our 4pm start at the PCC – both couples had volunteered, the Hudnall’s had Ask Me tonight. And, we made it:

These morning walks to the Point have to be shared:

The day started out crashing ocean waves. . .

We had a group of students in a car accident over the weekend and that has been the focus of the student visits this week. Fortunately there were only minor injuries, but a lot of visits and a big mediation to help resolve it. Gratefully no Wednesday night appointments!!

Thursday, March 13, 2025

Started early with Zoom Conference in UTAH time. But I’m grateful for the opportunity to get Free CEU’s!!

Thank you Elder Rappeley and helpers who took time to help Elder Hudnall fix our Prius!!

Our SW intern, Nephi Garcia’s birthday is today and we celebrated with lunch at Seven Brother’s (his fav) and Elder Hudnall baked a birthday cake to share at the office:

Saturday, March 15, 2025

Oh, that was yesterday!
P-Day is Today!

Started with our walk to the Point: (low tide today)

These are spots that we don’t see very often down below. It usually has multiple waves crashing over it.

We got a lot done today as “rainy” as it was. Hot, Rainy Day. . . But got the Pad cleaned toilet fixed, Costco run finished and had dinner with the Johnsons down the street! It was a good day!

8am Church on a Sunny Sunday!

Today was the Worldwide Women’s Devotional

We met with all Senior Sister Missionaries serving in La’ie Hawaii Mission at the Visitor Center at the Laie Temple grounds.

It was a beautiful meeting. It made me think about Zina Diantha Huntington and her history with the Relief Society.

• “Zina Diantha (Huntington, Jacobs) Young, born January 31, 1821, in Watertown, N.Y.; married, first, Henry Bailey, son of Henry Jacobs. He was born in 1817, in Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and died in Salt Lake City, Utah. She married, second, in April, 1841, in Nauvoo, Ill., Brigham Young. He was born June 1, 1801, at Whitingham, Vt., and was the son of John and Nabbie (Howe) Young. His career is well known, is a matter of history, and need not here be set forth. He died August 29, 1877, in Salt Lake City.

Mrs. Zina D.H. Young was a notable figure in Utah from the early pioneer days until her death.

Her efforts and work were of a manifold nature, and such as to advance the interests of the people and State. She did more than any other woman in Utah to establish sereculture as a local industry, and had personal charge of the large cocoonery established by President Young as a first venture in that line. In 1876 she was elected president of the local silk organization, and afterward traveled many times throughout Utah in its interests. In 1879 she visited the Sandwich Islands, and in the same year traveled over 1,000 miles in Utah by carriage conveyance, presiding over meetings. In 1881 she visited New York and Vermont and spoke in Sunday schools and temperance meetings throughout those States, attending also the Women’s Congress at Buffalo, and the National Suffrage convention in New York. During this visit she assisted also in the organization of a branch of the Relief Society at Cohoes, New York. In the next year she was chosen president of the Deseret hospital and fulfilled its duties for twelve years. She was one of the band of Utah women who attended the Women’s Congress at the World’s Fair, and at the famous Sunday services held by the congress, was given a seat on the platform as representative among the fourteen women ministers of different denominations who conducted the meeting. At this time she also presided over a session of the Congress of Charities and Philanthropies, of which she was elected president. For more than thirty years she was connected prominently with Sunday school work, and as one of the earliest members of the Relief Society lent effective help in the work of that organization.

At the death of E.R. Snow, she was appointed to fill the former’s place as president of the society. When in 1891 the local body became connected with the National Council of Women, Mrs. Young became vice-president of the great National organization. She died August 28, 1901.

I am proud to be a descendant of this woman and organization.

One of the quotes that I kept:

I count on the power of Jesus Christ in my life and rely on his direction and guidance. I’m grateful for the comfort and direction that I have been granted. He is my Savior and Redeemer. He is my guide and comforter for which I hope to be able to be in tune with and serve.

Hope you all have a great week.

Love,

Elder and Sister Hudnall
