I was in a training this week and they talked about the word Trigger and how they were trying to get away from this word. then I saw this:

There are days when all you want is to disappear, when the weight of everything feels too heavy to carry.

But then, out of nowhere, you catch yourself laughing at a friend’s story, savoring the comfort of your favorite meal, or simply breathing in the calm of the evening air as you walk home. It’s in these fleeting, almost unnoticed moments that life gently nudges you, reminding you that even in the darkest times, there are still tiny glimmers of light that make holding on worth it.

Life may never be as easy as we hope, and its challenges can feel relentless, but sometimes, it’s the smallest joys that breathe life back into you. A kind word, a shared laugh, or the quiet peace of a sunset—they have a way of reminding you just how good life can still be, even when everything feels like it’s falling apart.

And maybe, that’s the beauty of it: knowing that no matter how lost you feel, these moments will always be there to pull you back.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

What a fun way to start the week. We made note to wear green today, but many of the students on campus didn’t know what we were taking about, so No Pinching!

From Sister Boom:

President Nelson said, “Daily immersion in the word of God is crucial for spiritual survival, especially in these days of increasing upheaval. As we feast on the words of Christ daily, the words of Christ will tell us how to respond to difficulties we never thought we would face.” [5]

He also counseled that we not just read the scriptures but savor them. [6] Because English is not my native language, I looked up the meaning of the word ‘savor.’ It is to enjoy or appreciate something, especially food or a moment, slowly, in order to enjoy it as much as possible. [7]

Isn’t that beautiful? Can you imagine what your scripture study would be like when you savor that time—or slowly appreciate the scriptures? You don’t rush through the text; instead, you pause to consider what you’ve read and ask yourself how these teachings can guide you in your daily life.

I am reminded of Psalm 119:103: “How sweet are [your] words to my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” [8]

In Jewish tradition, there is a beautiful custom when a young child first begins to learn to read Hebrew letters and study the Torah. A parent or teacher will place a small amount of honey on the child’s lips. This tradition reminds us that studying our scriptures should not feel burdensome or unpleasant, but that the scriptures are sweet, like honey, and should be enjoyed and loved.

I love my daily scripture time and the impact it has on my life!

As we learn, reflect, and apply what we learn from the scriptures, we not only grow in knowledge but also draw closer to our Savior. We build a relationship with Him, grow to love Him, and become more like Him.

Isn’t it wonderful to see that it is precisely those small steps, once they become a permanent part of our lives, that lead to continuous growth? It is always in the small and simple things, like connecting with God through prayer and scripture study.

Jesus says in Doctrine and Covenants 88:63, “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me.” [9]

This midweek day started with an EGG giveaway. They gave away 60,000 eggs Free. 5000 dz eggs were disseminated to this very long line of people in the parking lot outside our office.

This was my training morning. It was held in Utah on MDT 9am-3pm. Thus, my Hawaiian morning started at 4am to be ready to participate from 5am – 11am! It was a great training and worth the effort. Here are a couple of slides that I want to share also:

And we ended the day back on campus (oh that’s right we never left campus today):

Our District meeting/gathering this month was being able to attend Aida. Sister Greiner who is in our District 2 serves her mission in the theatre department on campus and these are her events. It was wonderful to share it with her. They did a great job. We really enjoyed this production!

A very long day on campus. The play finished around 10:30pm so we celebrated the Spring Equinox on campus with some “rolled ice cream”:

It was a long day with student appointments and errands helping them get the things they need.

Finishing off the day at the PCC and the Ohana Luau:

The point was beautiful this morning:

Campus start time 8:30am with meetings and student visits. Supervision for social work students.

The Hope Squad had a Podcast that was held on campus:

And we finished up the campus meetings to end the day with our MTC District out in Pupukea at Elder and Sister Steiner’s home:

We all met and started out at the Provo MTC on May 6, 2024. Three of these wonderful couples are finishing up their 12 month mission. (The Timothy’s, The Boyer’s, and the Zollinger’s). Two of us have an 18 month mission (Hudnalls and the Goodfellow’s) and the Stiener’s will be here for 23 months serving at the PCC. An amazing group of missionaries.

Church at 8am and it was a great set of meetings. We then had family time. FaceTime with the grandkids in Ohio! Then Gregor scheduled a Family FaceTime and showed us the pictures of his hike to Kilimanjaro and the Safari on the Seregenti:

Caught up with Sherri and Mindy. . . What a week!

I’ll end with a quote I came across this week. President Russell M. Nelson:

There is a saying that our own self worth (image) is interpreted this way:

“It’s not how I think about myself.

It is not how you think about me.

It is what I think – You think about me.”

(Which we never clarify or qualify)

So, none of it makes much sense –

I am who I am with the help of the Lord.

Things that Matter most to me, I am:

Child of God

Child of the covenant

Disciple of Jesus Christ

It is not what we have done or what we are doing . . .

It what you do next – That matters most.

“To consecrate is to set apart or dedicate something as sacred, devoted to holy purposes.  True success in this life comes in consecrating our lives – that is, our time and choices – to God’s purposes.  In so doing, we permit Him to raise us to our highest destiny.”

-Elder D. Todd Christofferson

The opportunity to serve a full-time mission has given me the opportunity to focus on daily scripture study. To have daily companion study.

To walk with the Lord hourly . . .

For this I am grateful! Know you all are in our thoughts and prayers,

Elder and Sister Hudnall
