Spring Break for the schools in Utah and we got wonderful pictures from the family:

We had the usual Monday morning meetings, visits with students on a busy campus. Then off to Honolulu.

Pearl Harbor Day!

We started with the Punchbowl Military Cemetery which was so humbling. There was a service being held in a corner of the cemetery. There was majesty of the edifice and the history on the walls. It was awe inspiring:

Then we had lunch at Liliha’s and made it to Pearl Harbor on time for our tour:

I really enjoyed the VR (Virtual Reality) part of the tour, but I enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a picture of us in our white headpieces!

Final Ralston’s Family Trip. They were on the red eye so we had the day.

General Conference Weekend too. Here in the Hawaiian Aleutian time zone, we begin our morning session at 6am! So, by noon we are done with the two Saturday sessions and could listen to the evening session on the hour + trip down to Honolulu!

Last stop was Fort Debussy U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii:

Where I learned so much about coastal artillery and was introduced to the Oozlefinch (he is my favorite). And we finished off the day with a beautiful sunset driving past the PCC.

Beautiful Conference Weekend. Again we start the day with the morning session at 6am, afternoon session starts at 10am. What an amazing experience to be filled with the Spirit and love of our Heavenly Father.

Our First Sunday’s here in the mission involve our mandatory Munch and Mingle. It is the time we all get to see each other as we work in very different places during the month: BYUH, PPC, Visitors Center, Mission Office. Even on General Conference weekend we meet. Here we also say Aloha Oe to our departing missionaries:

This was a Full and Amazing Week and Weekend! I’m excited to re-listen to the talks and hear the sweet music of this weekend. On one of our morning walks, we listen to a talk my Marvin J Ashton given in the October 1985 Conference. I have been re-reading it this week and want to share it with you:

Peace—A Triumph of Principles

“Peace is not a purchase away. Peace is not when the final installment is paid. Peace is not when marriage comes nor when all the children are enrolled in school. Peace is not when the last child returns from the mission field. Peace is not when an inheritance is received. Peace is not when the scars of death start to heal.

True peace must not be dependent upon conditions or happenings. Peace must stem from an inward contentment built upon trust, faith, and goodwill toward God, fellowmen, and self. It must be constantly nurtured by the individual who is soundly anchored to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Only then can a person realize that the trials and tribulations of daily life are less important than God’s total goodness.

Lasting peace is an eternal personal quest. Peace does come from obedience to the law. Peace comes to those who develop character and trust.  We can find peace if we know our Father and learn to live by his principles.

None of us will avoid the storms of life. The winds and the waves will periodically interfere with our chosen course. The laws of the gospel can bring us back on course and guide us to peaceful waters.

To this I bear my special witness in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.”

I hope we can all search for and find peace. I know that it is through living the principles of our Heavenly Father and I count on Him through the Holy Ghost to continue to help us in this life.
